Quests are our way of giving our members something to work towards, and an alternative way of earning items in our Shop that may be too expensive otherwise. All quests are optional and may be started/completed without seeking approval beforehand (unless otherwise indicated). See the below segments for more information! And if you have an idea for a quest that isn’t currently listed, feel free to share in the Questions & Suggestions forum.

Available Quests

Here is a list of all available quests, a brief description of what must be done, any requirements for the specific quest, what the reward is for completing it, and any stipulations that may apply to that quest. Please note that all quests may be completed by as many characters as you’d like; however, the quest post and word counts must be met by all characters participating (ex: two people want to obtain mounts by completing the “Trusty the Steed” quest together - each character must make 3 posts of 400 words or more).

>>> QUESTS FOR CLASSES

  • Bloody Reckoning: Fae have many reasons to desire the blessing of magic. Some are barren who covet the ability to wield the elements. Others are already magic-blessed, but would prefer the ability to control a different power. Whatever your reason, you have deemed the end result is far worth the questionable ethics of the method to obtain said magic. You must kill a dragon in a very specific fashion: not only murdering the beast, but also ingest its lifeblood while the heart still beats. For jarda (earth) magic, you must hunt a dragon with green fire (Austanferd); for svell (ice) magic, you must hunt a dragon with white fire (Norderhalt); for lopt (air) magic, you must hunt a dragon with yellow fire (Vestri); for bruni (fire) magic, you must hunt a dragon with red fire (Sunnarst); and for vatna (water) magic, you must hunt a dragon with blue fire (Eyland). Remember that these dragons have passive magic that may affect you and make the battle even more dangerous!

    • Requirements: 2 threads, first thread with 3 posts of 500 words or more and second thread with 1 post of 500 words or more. First thread must be located wherever the dragon would be found and include finding, battling, and killing the dragon, and ingesting the lifeblood. Second thread must be located wherever your character lives and include adjusting to their new magic and dealing with their thoughts/emotions surrounding killing the dragon.

    • Reward: Receive the Staff Managed: Svell Magic item (no monetary value), Staff Managed: Jarda Magic item (no monetary value), Staff Managed: Lopt Magic item (no monetary value), Staff Managed: Bruni Magic item (no monetary value), or Staff Managed: Vatna Magic item (no monetary value).

    • Stipulations: Each character may only complete one quest for a Staff Managed item every 2 years. Character must be fae. Thread must be tagged with [Violence]!

  • Fear the Unknown: Sometimes “average” just isn’t enough, even for those who are already blessed with magic. You desire the rare, powerful, and feared psychological power. Not only do you have to complete an already dangerous task of killing a dragon, you must hunt down the most elite of dragons… the alphas and elders, found only in the most remote, secluded locations of each region in Drekhjarta. Their purple fire will incinerate your very bones. You know you will likely lose your life, but you will do anything for the chance of controlling the arcane.

    • Requirements: 2 threads, 3 posts of 500 words or more per thread. First thread must be in a very dangerous setting in any region of your choosing and include finding, battling, and killing the dragon, and ingesting the lifeblood. Second thread must be located wherever your character lives and include tending to their injuries, adjusting to their new magic, and dealing with their thoughts/emotions surrounding killing the dragon.

    • Reward: Receive the rare Staff Managed: Geyma Magic item (no monetary value).

    • Stipulations: Each character may only complete one quest for a Staff Managed item every 2 years. Character must be fae. Thread must be tagged with [Violence]!

  • Spirit of the Beast: Just like the fae often desire the magic that dragon blood can instill in them, humans also covet power they are not born with. Human spirits are very unique in the fact that they can bond, or even intertwine, with the spirit of a dragon. Humans who wish for the ability to shapeshift must follow the same path as the fae - they must kill a dragon and ingest its lifeblood while the heart still beats. Humans with gentler souls can search for a dragon whose spirit is compatible with their own. Both paths are dangerous… a battle with a dragon can easily end in death, and you could always approach a dragon who doesn’t want to be approached.

    • Requirements: 2 threads, first thread with 3 posts of 500 words or more and second thread with 1 post of 500 words or more. First thread must be located wherever the dragon would be found and include finding, battling, and killing a dragon and ingesting the lifeblood for drageskifts, or finding and bonding with a dragon in whatever way you prefer (saving them, talking to them, etc) for sals. Second thread must be located wherever your character lives and include dealing with their first shift for drageskifts, or adjusting to sharing the thoughts and emotions of a dragon for sals.

    • Reward: Receive the Staff Managed: Drageskift item (no monetary value) or Staff Managed: Sal item (no monetary value).

    • Stipulations: Each character may only complete one quest for a Staff Managed item every 2 years. Character must be human. Thread must be tagged with [Violence] for drageskifts.

  • By Tooth and Claw: It doesn’t matter how, where, or why, but you have somehow encountered a dragon. Bravo! Either by intent or pure chance, you’ve stumbled upon one of the rarest creatures that Drekhjarta has to offer. Encountering this dragon is certainly worth some form of commemoration – and perhaps the best kind would come in the form of the opportunity to continue writing this dragon character.

    • Requirements: 1 thread, 2 posts of 500 words or more. Write the first post from the perspective of your human or fae character and the second from the perspective of your new dragon. This thread can occur anywhere in Drekhjarta, but it is mostly likely to occur in wilderness areas, not towns or cities.

    • Reward: Receive the Staff Managed: Dragon item (no monetary value)).

    • Stipulations: This quest can only be completed with a non-dragon character, and it can only be completed once every six months.

  • To Nothing I Return: While most humans and fae actively seek ways to become dragon-blessed or magic-blessed, others seek the opposite (or accidentally happen upon it). There are multiple “pockets” in the world that make such a feat possible. A distinct location in Norderhalt’s Spretta River runs incredibly hot instead of ice cold - if you happen to fall in or discover it, the heat will burn away your abilities. When the sun hits a certain point in the sky, one of the rock faces within Sunnarst’s Galinn Canyon will reflect a very peculiar mirage that, if seen, will make you literally forget how to use your abilities. And finally, a specific papaya tree in Eyland’s Palmvide Gardens will cleanse your body if you choose to pick and eat one of its fruits before they’re fully ripe.

    • Requirements: 1 thread, 3 posts of 300 words or more. First post must include traveling to your chosen location. Second post must include completing the specific act described in the above summary however you see fit (on purpose or accidentally). Third post must include your character experiencing the change (whether it’s painful or gentle, etc), and an end to the thread.

    • Reward: Receive the Staff Managed: Barren Human item (no monetary value), or Staff Managed: Barren Fae item (no monetary value).

    • Stipulations: Each character may only complete one quest for a Staff Managed item every 2 years. Character must be human or fae.

  • We Are One: Some human souls are genuinely worthy of double blessings. Why you deserve the protection, companionship, and comradery of not just one but two dragons, you’ll never be able to determine… but you are incredibly thankful for it. Whether you’re already bonded to one dragon and happen across another dragon with a compatible spirit, or you’re just insanely lucky and find two at the same time, you walk away from the experience with two bonded dragons.

    • Requirements: 2 threads, 3 posts of 500 words or more per thread. First thread must be located wherever the dragon(s) would be found and include finding and bonding with the dragon(s) in whatever way you prefer (saving them, talking to them, etc). Second thread must be located wherever your character lives and include adjusting to sharing the thoughts and emotions of a dragon (or two dragons).

    • Reward: Receive the rare Staff Managed: Tvisal item (no monetary value).

    • Stipulations: Each character may only complete one quest for a Staff Managed item every 2 years. Character must be human.

>>> OTHER QUESTS

  • Blessing of Time: Visit the Crone, Drekhjarta’s mysterious “Blesser” (see the World Lore page for more information). In Spretta, the Crone can be found at the Enadsyn Tributary in Eyland, whose waters are raging with the overflow of spring rain. In Sumra, they can be found in the middle of the Alderlok Desert in Sunnarst, unaffected by the sun’s fatal heat. In Falla, they hide among the dangerous predators and thick trees of Austanferd’s Endalauss Forest. And in Ventra, they travel to the very tops of the Heminloft Mountains in Norderhalt despite the unrelenting blizzards. Those who reach the Blesser are granted the gift of time… if they can reach the shapeshifter alive, that is.

    • Requirements: 1 thread, 3 posts of 500 words or more. First post must include traveling to the Crone’s location. Second post must include finding the Crone among the dangerous conditions. Third post must include a description of how your character sees the Crone, interacting with the Crone, and receiving their blessing.

    • Reward: Change your character’s age, or the age of your character’s child (if the player of the child agrees).

    • Stipulations: May only be completed once every 5 years per character.

  • Life-Giving Elixir: Vestri’s Bifrost Meadows are favored far and wide for romantic outings due to its beautiful grasses, colorful array of flowers, and ravishing view of the endless skies. There is a legend that the Meadows store precious groundwater beneath only the brightest, most breathtaking flowers - and that this groundwater carries magical properties that make miracles happen. It is said that the groundwater will absorb the salt of your body (whether given via blood, sweat, or tears) and form the very beginnings of a progeny… making biological offspring possible for anyone who wishes to start or grow a family.

    • Requirements: 1 thread, 3 posts of 250 words or more. First post must include finding and extracting the groundwater. Second post must include mixing the groundwater with body salt and witnessing what it creates (babies for humans/fae, eggs for dragons). Third post has no requirements other than ending the thread.

    • Reward: Ability to submit a Procreation request even if the parents are not biologically capable of producing offspring.

    • Stipulations: Note that all other requirements of procreation must be met for a procreation request to be approved (listed in the Game Mechanics page).

Seeking a Quest

Starting a quest is incredibly simple - to quote a well-known real world slogan, just do it! Unless otherwise indicated in the stipulations, all quests are allowed to be started without prior permission. If you have the muse to complete a quest, we encourage you to go for it.

If a quest requires permission before starting, reach out to any of the staff members. They will review your request, approve it (or explain why they can’t approve it at that time), and log it for their reference.

Completing a Quest

Once your quest is complete and all requirements have been fulfilled, you can head on over to the Quest Fulfillment thread to submit a request for review. Assuming all stipulations were met prior to starting your quest, staff will approve your request and dole out your reward!
