Our world is entirely dictated by time. In moments of joy, when we wish we could freeze time and make it last forever, it ebbs around us, dragging us along its current when we only want to stay ashore. And in days of sorrow, when we wish we could speed time up in order to get past that which is harming us, it seems to only trickle by and emphasize our pain. Read the below contents to better understand how time flows through Drekhjarta.

The seasons of Drekhjarta are a mirror of real life in order to keep things as simple as possible.

Knowing our member base is extremely busy and may not have the time to post every day or even every other day, we chose to have a 1:1 ratio aging system. This will prevent characters from aging too fast, make it easy to follow for our members, and make it easy to manage for our staff. The aging system is automatic and will calculate based on your character’s season born and year born.

Due to the long lifespans of our species (humans live to 100 years old, fae live to 300, and dragons live to 1000), we believe this will give our members plenty of time to write their characters’ stories, and we will rarely (if ever) have to deal with the death of a character. However, the staff also understand that not everyone wants to age so slowly. For those who wish to alter their character’s age, we have created a quest to meet the Crone - a wise old entity capable of altering time. See the Quest guidebook page to read more about it.

Posting Guidelines

We have two main rules when it comes to incorporating aging and timelines into your IC posts:

  1. We operate in liquid time. This means that you can be in as many threads as you’d like at one time, and each thread is considered independent of one another. You make the decision of how many threads you can handle at once, and which events happened before your writing or are still happening!

  2. Timing is set at the creation of your thread. This pertains to your character’s age, the current season, and the current year. For example: You create a thread in Spretta Year 505 and your character is 30 years old and born in Sumra. The thread lasts for two months (it’s now Sumra and your character is technically 31 years old). For the purposes of your thread, you will still write as though it’s Spretta and your character is 30 years old.

As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the staff or a knowledgeable member to help you out!
